The present weekly amount of statutory maternity pay, statutory paternity pay, statutory shared parental pay and statutory adoption pay is £139.58 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings if this figure is less than the statutory rate.
The Government has proposed not to increase this amount in April 2016. Although there is no statutory obligation to raise these rates every year, they usually increase each April in line with the consumer price index (CPI).
To be eligible to these statutory payments, the employee’s average earnings need to be equal to or more than the lower earnings limit. This sum is frozen at £112.00
The rate of statutory sick pay is also frozen at the existing weekly rate of £88.45.
