September 2021 saw the launch of the two-year induction programme for new teachers based on the Early Careers Framework (ECF). Any Headteachers who employ an Early Careers Teacher (ECT) must appoint an Appropriate Body (AB), who will quality assure the statutory induction. This must happen prior to the induction commencing.
In March 2022 the “Opportunity for all” white paper committed to reforming the role of Appropriate Bodies for ECT, following feedback relating to the implementation of the ECF based programme.
Consultation has now opened (26th May 2022) for you to have your say on the reforms to the AB sector. They would like to have teaching school hubs (TSHs) as the main providers, meaning that local authorities will no longer carry out this role.
They are looking for your views on:
- the timeframe for this change
- how to enable a successful transition
- how the AB role can be improved
- the value of the formal assessment process
Consultation closes at 5pm on the 21 July 2022. If you would like to have your say follow the link below:
