Apprenticeships are an important part of many businesses, make sure you are up–to-date on the current government guidance on how to manage them correctly during COVID-19.
The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) have laid out specific supportive measures to ensure that apprentices and employers are protected during this time. Read the full guidance here.
A few critical points the guidance makes reference too are;
- Remote working – is this an option? Have you thought of this?
- Offering changes to the end-point assessment arrangements, this may include offering remote assessments.
- Being honest and reassuring apprentices about re-scheduling assessments because of COVID-19 should they not be able to take place at the moment.
- If a break in learning exceeds 4 weeks due to COVID-19 you as an employer and training provider need to report this.
- Further guidance to ensure funding is not disrupted by properly recording breaks in learning.
- Assisting apprentices should they be made redundant.
The guidance and measures that have been put in place are effective immediately and will apply under further notice.
