After finishing college in June 2021, I left with my A-levels and was undecided and unsure about what to do after this. I had two main options either to go to university or get a job. I started an apprenticeship working for FEPS in September 2021. This allowed me to get the best of both worlds, working while studying for a qualification. Working at FEPS has allowed me to gain valuable experience in a company with a great purpose. I have been able to learn what is required in the workplace. These are valuable skills that I would not have been able to learn whilst at university. I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to work and start earning, whilst also adding to my skills and qualifications. Studying an apprenticeship has allowed me to improve my confidence. Both at work and outside of work I feel more confident. This is because I have been able to meet and work with new people of all ages who I may not have interacted with otherwise. Whilst progressing through my course I have been able to study a variety of different topic areas and I now have a better understanding of the wider business world. Having greater responsibility and representing the business, has allowed me to see an improvement in my quality of work and professionalism. Understanding that what I produce represents the overall business has allowed me to understand the importance of having accurate work completed to the highest level. Knowing that I have a purpose in the business and seeing the results of my work provides fulfilment and makes me want to strive to improve every day. The support that is provided whilst studying by both colleagues and my tutor allows me to keep progressing through my course successfully. In conclusion, starting an apprenticeship has given me knowledge and experience that I would not have been able to get elsewhere. An apprenticeship is an excellent way to start working whilst studying at the same time and I would recommend investigating apprenticeships to any school or college leaver.
