It’s important to ensure measures are in place to deter, reject and identify people who might abuse or neglect children. Making safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children is an integral part of HR management in organisations that work with children, is an essential part of creating safe environments.
Unfortunately, in recent months we’ve seen a spike in safeguarding allegations, many of which are linked in some way to safer recruitment practices not being fully adhered to. We have available a full-day session for anyone who has not received accredited training before. It covers in detail all aspects of the safer recruitment process. For those of you who have previously attended the full day session, we also have a half-day refresher session available, which recaps on the process and includes key changes to the safer recruitment agenda.
Don’t wait until you have an issue to ensure safer recruitment processes are being followed correctly. Ensure you are taking proactive steps by training the necessary members of staff.
Our safer recruitment sessions aim to:
- Give participants an awareness and understanding of offender behaviour;
- Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people;
- Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting;
- Help participants begin to review their own and their organisation’s policies and practice with a view to making them ‘safer’.
The one-day course on Safer Recruitment is on 30th January in Bradford. To book click here. The half-day refresher course is on March 19th and is available to book online. The venue for the refresher course will be West Yorkshire and will be confirmed shortly. To reserve your place click here.
