The pandemic has uncovered new ways of working, we’ve had to adapt to new processes and some have been positive ones that organisations are continuing to employ now.
Finding ways to be more efficient with your people management is always a benefit, reducing time and improving the experience for your employees. During the pandemic, recruitment could not happen in person and many were concerned about how effective this would be when you could only meet the person over a video call.
In our experience, during this time, there were some great appointments made. We worked on numerous Headteacher appointments where the school felt that the process had been more efficient and effective because it was done virtually.
This response has been mirrored in a recent survey carried out by Milkround, My First Virtual Job, who focus on graduate recruitment. This survey asked 500 people professionals their view on recruitment and what processes they will be continuing with.
Two-thirds of HR decision makers agreed that they should continue with virtual recruitment “many believing the remote process has improved inclusivity”.
64% wanted to continue using virtual interviews and 71% said their organisation had reconsidered how to make their recruitment process more inclusive.
71% of HR professionals said it saved them time and this was reflected for the candidate too with 63% saying they would rather have a virtual interview before attending in person. The report suggested that a combined approach may be the best way forward. Whilst virtual recruitment was preferred, as expected induction was highlighted as being less successful in a virtual environment and the need to feel part of the team highlighted.
Our new applicant tracking software FACE-Ed provides the perfect platform for virtual recruitment for schools and trusts, improving the efficiency of the recruitment process. You can find out more on our website www.face-ed.co.uk.
We’ve put all of our HR knowledge and expertise into creating software that follows Safer Recruitment guidelines. As Safer Recruitment Accredited Trainers, we are able to understand the processes that schools and trusts need to follow. The software tracks the responses and highlights any vetting checks still required in order to complete your Safer Recruitment process. Interview packs can be downloaded in seconds and emails sent to successful and non-successful applicants. The software manages the whole process from publishing a vacancy advert to issuing the offer letter.
